At the end of 2022, sales of game consoles in domestic stores began to recover. Russian retailers attribute the increase in demand to the seasonal factor and the establishment of parallel imports.
The market in Russia last year decreased by 30% in monetary terms due to a shortage of goods, but since December it has begun to recover and will continue to do so in 2023, informed TASS head of the procurement group for office equipment, network equipment and accessories “Citylink» Ivan Polikarpov.
“In March, there was a shortage of game consoles on the market. In the second half of the year, chains of parallel imports were established, the situation stabilized and the market slowed down its decline,” Polikarpov notes.
AT “M.Video-Eldorado» confirmed the increase in demand and said that the majority of sales traditionally fell on the family PlayStation 5, the most popular of which was a model with a drive. Among consoles Xbox the most popular was the “younger” model.
On marketplaces, sales of game consoles also continue to grow. Wildberries and Ozone recorded an increase in demand. In the latter case Xbox Series X increased its share in piece sales, and the demand for Nintendo Switch and games for her has doubled.
