Democratic Republic of Congo, in the North Kivu region the “rebels” occupy the Coltan mines

ROME (DIRE Agency) – A town known for its deposits of Coltan, a mineral used in smartphone batteries for electric cars, was occupied by the so-called “rebel” group – the M23, March 23 Movement – in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This was reported by a spokesperson for the same armed group. His reconstruction was also confirmed by testimonies from representatives of civil society, NGOs and humanitarian organizations operating in the area and relaunched by multiple press sources.

The town is called Rubaya and is located in the province of North Kivu. The armed group is a group which, according to the Kinshasa government, is supported by neighboring Rwanda, which for some time has been implementing destabilizing maneuvers in the area to thus have exclusive control of the extraction areas of the very precious mixture of minerals. Just yesterday, it is no coincidence that French President Emmanuel Macron received Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi in Paris. During the meeting, the head of the Elysée made an appeal – probably requested by Tshisekedi himself – asking the Rwandan government to “end its financial support” to the M23.
