Demanding Money Back, Dozens of Customers Stay in Front of Prudential’s Office

Jakarta

A number of Prudential customers who are members of the insurance victim community spend the night in front of Prudential’s office, Sudirman.

Customers who are members of the Insurance Victim Community of this unit link product demand a full refund.

The Coordinator of the Insurance Victims Community, Maria Trihartati, revealed that there were around 20 Prudential customers staying the night. They are demanding funds which are deposits that have been entrusted to insurance companies for years.

“We will continue to survive until our demands are granted. Today I will read our demands,” said Maria, Tuesday (18/1/2022).

Maria said the victims had come to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to protest the settlement of the unit link insurance problem. However, according to him, OJK only acts as a mediator and does not protect the public.

“There is no evidence to report to the police and will be ignored. Reporting to the OJK, not everyone can do it, even those who report have no results, only in ping pong here and there. To appeal must be done in Jakarta, meaning all victims must come to Jakarta, that an impossible thing, to seek justice for the loss of a chicken must lose a goat or a cow,” he said.

In the demands on the banner, this customer victim asked the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Criminal Investigation Police, the Ombudsman and the OJK to help resolve the problem.

“Prudential’s victims are demanding a full refund of our money,” he wrote.

The victims were seen setting up white and blue tents and putting up red and white flags. He explained that the coordinator and several representatives had met with Prudential.

Maria said that Prudential had also provided food but the victims refused and returned the food.

He revealed that the insurance company has offered settlements, including a 50% refund of the premium paid by the customer after deducting the benefits received, both claims/withdraws of funds and rewards received.

The customer also has to sign a surrender form, then if the premium amount is less than the total benefit, there will be no refund unless there is a difference that will be paid.

Last year, the community of unit-linked victims also visited the DPR to ask for help so that the DPR could ask OJK to review the unit-linked insurance business in Indonesia.

Until this news was broadcast, detikcom had contacted Prudential but had not received a response.
