“Delicatessen Program presents ‘Puños de harina’: A Powerful Play on Racism, Homophobia, and Masculinity”

‘Puños de harina’, a new proposal from the Delicatessen program for this Thursday at the Teatro Apolo

The best theater continues to be one of the great pillars of the programming of the Department of Culture and Education of the Almería City Council and the Delicatessen programme, the independent and alternative theater cycle coordinated by Axioma Teatro, is one of its great examples.

A cycle that will have this Thursday, May 25, at 8:30 p.m., at the Teatro Apolo the third of its three appointments for this new quarter, with the play ‘Puños de harina’. It is a work written, directed and performed by Jesús Torres, from the company El Aedo, where he reflects on racism, homophobia, violence and masculinity.

Tickets are on sale both at the municipal box office, which is located in the Teatro Apolo, and on the Area’s own ticket website. They will also be at the Apolo box office from one hour before the start of the performance. They have a unique price of 13.50 euros.

The author explains that “’Fists of Flour’ is a theatrical boxing match that tells the story of how Rukeli, Saúl and other gypsies fought, resisted, died and survived the Holocaust and society; but it is also the story of how some men strive to fit into the ideal concept of “being real men”, in a context that rejects them because of their race or sexual orientation”.

It stands out for its careful staging and a remarkable technical bill, and has received recognitions such as the 2019 Autor Exprés Theater Award from the SGAE Foundation, the 2020 Nazario Award for Best Show at the Cultural Festival with Pride in Southern Europe and was a finalist for the Max 2021.
