Defense Sub-delegations and Information Centers: Roles, Functions, and Locations

They depend organically on the Defense Delegations and are established in provincial capitals, the latter area over which they extend their powers; They take their name from the aforementioned capital. In those provinces in which the Defense Delegation of the autonomous community is located, its head will also exercise the functions of the subdelegate.

With the aim of promoting a closer relationship between the Administration and the citizenry, the Defense Sub-delegations can house the Defense Information Centerswhich are constituted in those urban centers whose population density, resident or transient, so advises in order to provide information on Defense to society and bring citizens closer to some of the services provided by the peripheral organization.

When in a certain city or geographical area there is a notable concentration of people or assets to be managed, or other special circumstances so recommend, the Defense Delegated Offices, in which functions of the Subdelegation are decentralized. There are five Delegated Defense Offices: Alcalá de Henares, Ferrol, Cartagena, San Fernando and Algeciras.

The Defense Sub-Delegations carry out, in their territorial scope, the same functions as those indicated for the Defense Delegations and are structured, in general, as follows:

A Defense Subdelegate as head of the Subdelegation. A Support Body, except in those Subdelegations whose provincial headquarters coincide with that of the Defense Delegation, where its functions are assumed by the General Secretariat of said Delegation. A number of functional areas, which depend organically on the sub-delegate and functionally on the superior and managerial bodies of the Ministry of Defense and the competent public bodies attached to it. The following can be determined: Personnel and social support area, which will carry out activities typical of the administration of retired military personnel or in a situation of reserve without assignment and of the one that corresponds to civil, official or labor personnel, who provide service in units, centers or organizations of the Ministry of Defence. Activities in this area will also include occupational risk prevention and those derived from the application of policies to support geographic mobility and other complementary social protection policies and, in general, that are related to the social action of the military personnel. Recruitment Area, which will be in charge of the activities associated with recruitment, the additional contribution of human resources and labor incorporation. Heritage Area, which will deal with the activities associated with the management of properties of the Ministry of Defense. Industrial Inspection Area, which will develop activities associated with quality inspection and industrial safety.

Where appropriate, the Delegate Offices and Defense Information Centers to be determined in each province.
