A spokesman for the navy says that a diving team and a so-called Remus team left Den Helder early on Wednesday morning. The latter team works with a kind of underwater robot with sonar, which can search for hours under water. When a signal is given, divers enter the water. The search now takes place between the docks, as the missing surfer was last seen nearby. Emergency services tried this morning to search for the 23-year-old victim from Delft. According to the police, someone might have been seen in the water early on, and a search was being launched.
