Defending MUI, Destroys PCR Business Officials

The chairman of the 212 Alumni Brotherhood, Slamet Maarif, conveyed several demands. He delivered that in action 212 reunion in Jakarta today, Thursday (2/12).

The demands he submitted ranged from rejecting the criminalization of ulama to eradicating corruption and the PCR business by state officials.

“Today we take action to defend the ulama, there should not be any ulema who have been wronged by various contrived cases,” said Slamet in his speech in Tanah Abang before the Reunion 212 crowd dispersed Thursday (2/12).

Slamet called for the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to not be dissolved. He said this because he considered that there were parties who were determined to dissolve the MUI after the arrest of the suspected terrorist by the Detachment 88 of the Police.

If MUI is dissolved, Slamet believes that Islamic organizations could suffer the same fate.

“So before [jadi] reality later we defend [MUI]. Because if not, then Muhammadiyah will be disbanded, NU will be disbanded, then a state without religion,” said Slamet.

The demands of the masses of the 212 Reunion at the end are the eradication of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) in the current PCR business. Slamet criticized state officials who participated in the PCR business in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is known that Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir were in the spotlight for allegedly participating in the PCR business with PT GSI.

“Today, we are crushing the corruptors, whoever the person, the group, the party is in crisis, the people are starving everywhere, uh, he is using the people’s money for his personal interests,” closed Slamet.

After that, the Reunion 212 crowd dispersed from Jalan KH. Wachid Hasyim, Jakarta. However, there are still several other locations that have not disbanded.

It is known that the Reunion 212 crowd was divided at several points due to the isolation carried out by the police. A number of roads around Monas and the State Palace were closed and guarded by the security forces.

The strict guard was carried out because the police did not allow the 212 Reunion to be held at the Horse Statue on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. Officials want to avoid crowds that have the potential to cause Covid-19 transmission.
