Dedé’s relationship at Cruzeiro ended in 2021 shaken, with part of the fans no longer worshiping the player. This sudden change of feelings upset the defender, who over the past few years has reserved himself far from the spotlight, the media and without interviews, to “digest” and forgive certain situations.
“I don’t judge the club, anyone who knows me knows the gratitude I have for Cruzeiro, the love and affection I have for the club, and I will have for the rest of my life. Without wanting to like, nothing. The institution is what I see , dream, like and that is marked, stamped in my house, regardless if I’m idolized, if I’m in history or not. My feeling for the club is enormous”, he commented.
Called “mercenary and ungrateful” by some fans, Dedé found himself in the middle of a misunderstanding after statements by then-football director Ocimar Bolicenho, who was at Toca II in early 2020.
“Some fans doubted my character, my nature, they spoke of my injury the way they say, of ingratitude, that I’m a mercenary. It’s good to mention that the beginning of this whole trial came about due to a situation that Ocimar [Bolicenho, ex-diretor de futebol] who was in the board, who said that I would not reduce my salary, but he spoke in the wrong way, there was nothing like that, so much so that there was a decrease in my salary. He called me later and apologized,” he said.
Regarding the current board, headed by Sérgio Santos Rodrigues, who is currently one of the fans’ main targets – who even ask for the president’s resignation -, Dedé also revealed his grievances. “He didn’t call me once, not even to wish me great surgery. He didn’t have any contact”, he lamented.
