An 81-year-old woman declared dead by medics woke up in the morgue in Russia.
Zinaida Kononova had been admitted to Gorshechenskaya hospital to have a malignant tumor removed by surgery, “Le Parisien” reported on Saturday, citing Russian media.
After the operation, doctors declared her dead in a diagnosis that later turned out to be false.
Taken to the morgue, the octogenarian was found the next day alive and fallen from her bed.
The “living dead” woman was quickly transferred to another hospital facility for intensive care and further surgery.
This time, however, the octogenarian failed to cheat death a second time and did not survive.
“After the operation, she felt better”, commented the health authorities, announcing an internal investigation.
