The next auto show IAA could take place in Berlin, Hamburg or Munich.
The board of the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) wants to start concrete negotiations with these three applicants. The decision for one of the three cities should be made in the next few weeks.

Thud! Half an hour later, the VDA officially announces that Berlin, Hamburg and Munich are entering the final round.
The VDA plans to announce its final location decision in March. Insiders tap Berlin. Frankfurt had been the location for the auto show since 1951.
Nobody expected that Frankfurt, along with Cologne, Hanover and Stuttgart, will leave the preliminary round.
Frank: “I’m disappointed, that’s a blow! We had a great team, we designed a gigantic concept for the new IAA in seven weeks and presented it in great style in Berlin. ”Oliver Schwebel, head of the business development agency, is also present:“ I can’t explain it to myself. ”
The bitter, final end hurts Frankfurt and the entire Rhine-Main region enormously. It was by far the largest trade fair, and despite a huge drop, it still had 560,000 visitors. For comparison: The widely appreciated book fair has around 280,000 visitors.
Criticism of the Frankfurt OB
The CDU parliamentary group leader in the Römer in Frankfurt, Nils Kößler (42), made OB Peter Feldmann (61, SPD) responsible for the slump.
