The economist categorically condemned the proposals of other candidates that border on the precariousness of work and even worse, on child labor.
Strengthening of Dollarization.
Andres Arauz denounced what he calls dirty campaign on the part of the National Government who have promoted the idea that dollarization would be in danger in their Government.
“Dollarization will be strengthened in our government, we are going to bring our dollars that are abroad, so that there is more circulating, improves the economy and there is more work for Ecuadorians, (…) in our government we will strengthen Public Banking. For this, it is essential that the money be repatriated to the country and that it returns to generate productive credits, especially for the agricultural sector, without leaving the Popular and Solidarity Economy behind. “

“We have the endorsement of the Secretary General of the UN, because it has been a recommendation at the international level, we must give a hand to the families who have been victims of the pandemic, victims of negligence in economic management …”
In the interview he supports his idea not as the solution, but rather as an injection of cash flow not only to those families affected by the pandemic, but to the entire country. He calls it an immediate incentive that allows new vigor to boost the economy.
Fight against corruption.
Regarding the fight against corruption, he affirmed that in his government there will be Zero tolerance at all levels and also, as active actors against corruption, the citizens as vigilantes.
“We believe in what is called Democracy 3.0, which is uploading all the information of the State to a platform: public contracts, public expenditures, budget items, decisions of the Public Administration and Justice in an easy and orderly way, so that any irregularity can be detected in a timely manner. “
We must differentiate, says the candidate, the fight against Corruption with Political Persecution. He cites the case of former president Jamil Mahuad, a fugitive from Ecuadorian justice, which cannot be compared with the case of the economist Rafael Correa, leader of his movement.
“I do not have to say it, because the Government has made its extradition attempts and they have been denied on three occasions by international bodies, INTERPOL itself has said that it is a case of Political Persecution, (…) sentencing will not be an action taken by the Executive, will be the judges themselves without pressure, without blackmail and without threats from this government who decide. “
Consultation for Water in Cuenca
From Cuenca, on the Consultation for Water, to be held on February 7, Arauz said:
“There is already a ruling from the Constitutional Court in the sense of not affecting the concessions already granted, however, if I were from Cuenca, I would speak in favor of the Popular Consultation, because as a matter of principle, water sources must be protected by privileging them over mining or capitalist interests of any kind ”.
Regarding the assertion of the Ecuadorian Chamber of Mining, which ensures that there is currently a 38% foreign investment thanks to mining, which would become one of the largest sources of capital income in the country, he said:
“We want to check that these capitals have actually entered Ecuador, we are not seeing that those dollars have been transferred within the country.
