Deathloop uses the PlayStation 5 control to simulate the locking of the weapons

From Sony unveiled the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller earlier this year, it emerged that the control offers an innovation in the form of realistic in-game feedback. Now we have a little more insight into how this should work in practice.

On the official PlayStation Blog developers explain how the so-called haptic feedback and adaptive trigger buttons on the DualSense control are used to simulate various effects in games.

Simulates locking of weapons

One of the games mentioned is Dishonored developer Arkane Studios’ new game Deathloop. According to the game’s director, Deathloop will use the DualSense buttons to simulate the locking of the weapons in the game by also locking the trigger button on the control.

This gives the player a physical reminder to fix the problem. The game will also use the control to give the various weapons a unique feel, says the developer.

Also the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel Horizon II: Forbidden West will actively use the trigger button to give the new weapons noticeable distinctiveness, Guerrilla Games can inform.

The hand control’s more detailed, tactile feedback will be used, among other things, to give players indications of which direction the attacks are coming from in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

More details on what we have in store when it comes to DualSense functionality can be found at PlayStation Blog.
