Legendary singer Petr Janda is celebrating his 80th birthday. He is still doing well on stage with the band Olympic, but in private he has had to deal with several tragedies. Singer Petr Janda during his studies as a connecting technician, he joined the Sputnice group with his brother Jiří as a guitar player. He then moved to the Big Beat Quintet and in 1963 began to be part of the Olympic band.

S Olympic, then one of the first rock bands in our country and today known as a legendary band, they succeeded, they recorded records, they were seen on TV and heard on the radio. Their music was supported by the magazine Mladý svět and they were given the opportunity to perform abroad. Just an ideal start.
Petr Janda first played guitar, composed and sang in the band. From the second half of the sixties, he became the band’s frontman, which he still is. The group also has several awards in the Golden and later Czech Nightingale poll. In 1993, she was also inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Czech Popular Music.
In 2013, the Olympic band was shaken by the mysterious death of drummer Milan “Ferda” Peroutka, who died at the age of only 49. According to the portal super.cz Peroutka performed with the band the day before his death, but he already said that he was sick. In the morning, his relatives found him dead under the stairs. It was a very difficult moment for the whole Olympic. All the more so when the previous drummer Petr Hejduk died of cancer… Last year, the founding member of the band from the 60’s and the lyricist Pavel Chrastina also died.
The band’s boss Petr Janda, who has hits like Tears of Your Mom, Jasná zpráva or Osmý den, feels at home on stage, but has had several tragedies in his personal life.

His first wife Jana Jandová contracted insidious ovarian cancer. “Jana was in surgery in 1989. The doctor said they had everything taken out of her, she went to chemotherapy, so I calmed down. But suddenly chemotherapy began to decline. A healer crept up to her, healing her with some line of Mary Fuk. Less than a year later, Jand’s wife began fighting cancer again. And to make matters worse, problems also broke out with their son Peter. “My son was practicing the viola at home, and we suddenly heard a bag of cement fall to the floor. Petya was lying on the ground, he had foam at his mouth, he was shaking, I couldn’t wake him. Doctors have found that he has a brain tumor. “ Janda recalls.
His son Petr underwent surgery and everyone hoped he would be fine. “When we came to the hospital with him, including Jana, who was also being treated for cancer, the doctor says: Mr. Jando, the operation turned out perfectly, the son will be fine. Then he leaned over and whispered to come to his office. There he said to me: Mr. Jando, the tumor cannot be removed. Two years, I don’t give more to your son.“
Janda understood that the wife, who had failed the cancer herself, would be paralyzed by the truth. Therefore, he did not tell this terrible secret to his wife or son. Until the last moment, Jana believed that her son was recovering, and with it she went to the other bank. Petr junior himself had no idea how he was doing, he finally went to heaven to visit his mother ten years later. Jand’s brother Jiří, whom the musician loved and helped as much as he could, also died recently.

Janda and Jana have a daughter in addition to her son Peter Marta Jandová, who is a successful singer after her father. However, far more women have gone through his life. Martina Jandová, with whom he has a daughter Eliška, became his second wife. The third and current woman is Alice Jandováwith whom he began dating when she was a high school graduate. “I didn’t really believe in the relationship in the future and I wanted to break up with her at all costs.
