Death of little Fayed in Nîmes: 9 people indicted for “organized gang assassination”

Nine people are indicted for “assassination by an organized gang”, announces the public prosecutor of Marseille Nicolas Bessone, this Saturday, November 19, 2023, in connection with the death of young Fayed, 10 years old, in Nîmes, on the night of August 21 to 22, collateral victim of a settling of scores between drug traffickers in the city of Pissevin.

Eight people, aged 18 to 30, are placed in pre-trial detention and a 17-year-old minor has been placed under judicial supervision, specifies the public prosecutor. Eight of the people indicted “deny the facts,” he said.

The death of young Fayed occurs in a “context of war for an appropriation of territory and deal points”, estimates the prosecutor, during the press conference, specifying that the people arrested are from Nîmes, Marseille and Paris.

Shot in a car

On the night of August 21 to 22, the child, aged 10, was in his uncle’s car with his 7-year-old little brother. All three were returning from the restaurant when they were caught in the middle of gunfire. Hit by a burst of Kalashnikov-type weapons, young Fayed was shot and killed.

The death of the child caused great emotion among the inhabitants of Nîmes and more particularly among those of the city of Pissevin, plagued by drug trafficking.

In response, around a hundred police officers from Republican Security Company 8 (CRS 8), a unit specializing in serious disturbances to public order and urban violence, were deployed the next day in the city.

One of the suspects, who had left French territory, was arrested in Spain on Saturday November 11 thanks to a European arrest warrant.
