The former French goalkeeper Christophe Revault, who went through Le Havre HC, Stade Rennais and Toulouse FC in particular, passed away on Thursday, May 6, leaving the image of a whole and endearing man.

1994-1995: First complete season in the first division with Le Havre HC

1997-1998: A disappointing year at Paris Saint-Germain

Courted by several clubs, he chooses Paris Saint-Germain to pursue his career, which notably allows him to play the only Champions League matches of his career. This beginning of the adventure quickly turns into a nightmare for the goalkeeper, who suffers from comparison with his predecessor, Bernard Lama. But it is especially on October 22, 1997 that confidence will collapse, after a catastrophic Champions League match against Bayern, lost 5-1, because of several large balls. He then found himself under fire from critics, and was even replaced by Vincent Fernandez for part of the season, forcing him to attend on the bench for the coronation in the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue of the Parisian club. It is logical that his Parisian adventure ends at the end of a season.

1998-2000: The Rennes years

Christophe Revault regains a starting place at Stade Rennais where he will stay two seasons. Unfortunately, these two years will be marked by an injury, rupture of the cruciate ligaments in April 1999, which will take him away from the field for about five months.

2000-2006: A rebirth at Toulouse FC

He joined in the summer of 2000 the just promoted to the first division Toulouse FC, and it was the beginning of an era which will consecrate the reputation of the French goalkeeper within the club. He was then 28 years old. The first season with the Toulouse club is nevertheless a hard blow for Christophe Revault. Toulouse FC finishes in the 18e place of the championship, and the club is even demoted to National because of budget deficit. He made the choice to continue with the club and became one of the strong men of the team, which managed to climb to the second division the following year, and made his goalkeeper the captain. He was elected best goalkeeper in Ligue 2 during the 2002-2003 season, and accompanied his team until the title of Ligue 2 champion. 2006-2007: Erased return to Rennes

He will play only 7 games during the 2009-2010 season, before finally hanging up his gloves, at the age of 38.

After putting an end to his playing career, Christophe Revault will remain close to his training club. He will return in particular for a few freelances as a coach, in 2012 and 2015, where he will prove to be rather convincing, with 10 wins, a draw and a defeat.
