Authorities responded to a report of an active shooter at the Mariano’s store located at 2559 W. 95th St. just after 9 a.m. Evergreen Park Police Chief Michael D. Saunders stated that officers arrived at the scene and found several people in the parking lot. They quickly entered the store, but no gunshots were being fired at the time.
As a precautionary measure, officers evacuated individuals from the front of the building and continued their search inside. “We believed at that time we did have a shooter inside the building,” Chief Saunders said.

Authorities received reports that the victim had been involved in a previous domestic dispute while she was employed at Amazon in nearby Oak Lawn. The suspect in that case was identified as her boyfriend, and authorities issued an alert regarding the vehicle mentioned in the report.
Later, Chicago police located the vehicle on the North Side of the city and apprehended a “possible suspect” who was armed with a firearm, Chief Saunders confirmed.
The village of Evergreen Park issued an alert to residents, assuring them that the shooting was believed to be a “domestic situation” and that there is no threat to the public. However, the area remains an active crime scene, and authorities are urging everyone to avoid the area.
