The return of the big firecrackers on New Year’s Eve Germany it was overshadowed by major accidents and crimes involving fireworks and attacks on emergency services. A 17-year-old from Leipzig was so badly injured while using pyrotechnics that he died in hospital, police said. In response to the attacks, a blanket ban on fireworks in private hands is under discussion.
