The popular French DJ David Guetta will participate this coming Saturday in an act together with the Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, in order to raise funds for the city, one of the most affected by the coronavirus pandemic worldwide.
Guetta will be part of the online event “United At Home NYC” with which De Blasio, along with his wife Chirlane McCray, intend to increase donations to New York City to purchase protective materials for essential services workers and other necessities.
“I am excited to announce that I will host another live broadcast to raise charitable funds and help in the battle against the virus.” The Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer said in a statement.
“New York is one of my favorite cities and it is an honor to be able to do something to help the city during this difficult time. We are planning something special that can be enjoyed from our homes around the world, ”added Guetta.
The artist pointed out that as a DJ, the audience is the most important thing in any show, and that “even though we can’t be together in a club or at a festival, we can use this moment to come together in new ways and help those who need it most. ”.
For his part, De Blasio said that “New York is facing the most complicated moment in the history of the city”, but that the support received from around the world has helped the metropolis.
“We may not be able to unite physically, but New York remains united through art and music,” added the mayor.
Guetta’s performance in support of New Yorkers, which will take place at 7 p.m. after the daily applause dedicated to the medical staff, follows another virtual concert by the DJ last month in Miami that was followed by 25 million people. and that it raised $ 750,000 to aid efforts to alleviate the coronavirus pandemic.
