Darmstadt wants to save 20 percent energy

The temperature in the swimming pools has also been lowered by 1.5 to 2.5 degrees Celsius, depending on the pool in question. In anticipation of a potentially tricky supply situation in autumn and winter, the science city wants to reduce energy consumption by a fifth, as the city announced after a meeting of the task force founded by Darmstadt Mayor Jochen Partsch (Die Grünen).

The group, in which, in addition to the city offices, also companies from the city group such as Entega AG, Heag mobilo, Bauverein AG and the company’s own companies work together in order to react appropriately to the Ukraine crisis, has decided on further steps intended to reduce energy consumption. For example, the heating period for public buildings was set to run from October 1st to April 30th. Outside these times there is no more heating. Day care centers and schools are excluded.
