The RKI takes into account those cases that were transmitted at midnight on the respective day. “For the presentation of the newly transmitted cases per day, the reporting date is used – the date on which the local health authority became aware of the case and recorded it electronically,” says the website of the institute. It could take a few days between the notification by the doctors and laboratories to the health authority and the transmission of the cases to the responsible state authorities and the RKI.
