The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has stated that it is “predictable” that the inoculation of the fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine will arrive “throughout the month of September, starting in the second half of September”.
This was stated to the media in Salamanca, where she visited the city’s University Assistance Complex, accompanied by the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.
Regarding the process, he explained that, in accordance with the proposal of the Vaccination Report, the Public Health Commission has established that vaccination will begin with those over 80 years of age and people who are in residences, and “later” those over 60 years.
As for the date for this, he has stressed that they are “waiting” for what the same presentation of experts and also the Public Health Commission exposes to begin with the administration of the fourth dose that will arrive “with the arrival of new vaccines, adapted to variants” and that “it could be throughout the month of September, from the second half of September”.
Regarding whether this inoculation could be carried out at the same time as the flu vaccine, he explained that it is “possible” that this could happen in those over 60 years of age, once the fourth dose has been administered to the “priority groups”, which are those over 80 years of age and present in residences.
Then there are “quite a chance” that there will be a coincidence with the flu, whose campaign has been established by the Public Health Commission between the third week of October and the first week of November.
As for the rest of the citizens, under 60 years of age, he pointed out that “it will depend” on the criteria of the experts in the presentation, before answering a question about whether the Spanish vaccine will arrive for this fourth dose, of which said that from the Ministry they are “pending” on his process.
“We are waiting for that technical decision, so that it can be incorporated, which would be our wish, but, in any case, we must wait for authorization,” he added.
