Dante Delgado and the Movement Ciudadano: Who Will be the Presidential Candidate for Mexico in 2024?

Dante Delgado, leader of Movimiento Ciudadano, posted a message on his X account that has raised doubts about whether he will be the pre-candidate for his party’s presidential candidacy.

Is Dante Delgado revealed as a Citizen Movement candidate?

In the message, Delgado points out that “You cannot promote real change by going down the same path, with the same parties and with the same characters who have already failed the country time and time again. The alternative for Mexico is with the Citizen Movement,” followed by an image with an orange background and a black hat, which has characterized him in recent days.

The publication unleashed all kinds of comments.

On December 4, Samuel García Sepúlveda, governor of Nuevo León, resumed his administration, after a Court denied him permission to leave his position and become the presidential candidate of Movimiento Ciudadano.

The rejection of García Sepúlveda’s aspiration left MC without a standard bearer for the presidency in 2024, since Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, current mayor of Monterrey and Samuel’s friend, rejected that designation, he said, due to lack of experience and personal issues.

Senator Patricia Mercado also declined to be the presidential candidate for the orange party and although there were versions that the Morenista and former Chancellor, Marcelo Ebrard, could be the one, this has not materialized.

In addition to being the leader of Movimiento Ciudadano, he is also a senator of that party. From 1988 to 1992 he was interim governor of Veracruz, where he is originally from.

Dante Delgado is a lawyer, graduated from the University of Veracruz. He also has diplomatic experience, having been Mexico’s ambassador to Italy.

Since 1999, Delgado left the ranks of the PRI to form the Convergencia party, which led to what is now the Citizen Movement.
