Danish court fines fake Prof Bernio V. for fraud | NOW

Bernio V. was sentenced by a Danish court on Tuesday to a fine of 2,000 euros and to pay the legal costs to the club Viborg FF. De Tilburger confessed that he was guilty of swindling and fraud.

V. pretended to be a professional footballer and contacted Viborg FF via a forged e-mail address of an international agent’s office. After just one training, it became clear in November last year that the then 25-year-old man could not play football at all.

Viborg reports Tuesday to be satisfied with the court’s verdict. “We consider this to be the end of a very tiring affair for us. We do not have to put any energy into this now and we focus on the future,” said president Morten Jensen of the club who plays in the second level in Denmark.

V. has always maintained to be innocent. To Viborg’s surprise, he admitted to court on Tuesday morning that he had defrauded the club.

V. also tried to play in Chile, South Africa and Moldova

Previously, V. also tried to get a contract as a professional football player with other clubs. His resume features Audax Italiano from Chile, Cape Town City in South Africa and Dinamo-Auto in Moldova

He never played a game in Chile and Cape Town City withdrew the offer when the club smelled danger. Nothing is known about V.’s career in Moldova.

V. is currently serving a one-year and three-month prison sentence in Denmark for a violent crime against his Chilean ex-girlfriend. After that, he was banned from entering Denmark for twelve years. His new conviction does not affect that sentence.
