It was the order. The Adelboden audience wants to see warriors. Daniel and the whole team listened to us. All of them displayed an attitude of warriors. I don’t think you can say the opposite when you put four of your skiers in the top five after the first run. For me, the coach, and for all the staff, it is a huge satisfaction to have seen them attack at this point.
As a real boss in this team, there is Daniel Yule. What was the trigger for him?
Daniel made a big mental step. He is very strong at this level today. We also worked a lot on the material. Many elements have served him to reach his current level. But it is not finished. We still have a lot of work ahead of us.
There has been a very linear progression with him for several seasons…
His career is effectively made this way. It has always increased. First, he skied between 20th and 30th place. Then between the 10th and the 20th. Then for the places in the top 10. Last year, it was regularly found between first and fifth place. He can now ski to take a place on the podium and play for victory.
Besides Daniel Yule, other Swiss including Zenhaüsern and Meillard can perform. Do you train the best team in the world?
I think Switzerland has the best slalom team today. Even after Zagreb, where the overall result was less encouraging, I reminded them that we were still the strongest team in the world. I asked them to look up from the next race, at Madonna. They did it. Beyond the skiers you mention, others can also come, like Sandro Simonet or Tanguy Nef.
