Through social networks, a video was viralized in which it is observed how passers-by and window cleaners joined in a “party” by dancing “La Chona”In the Center of Mexico City, in front of the Palace of Fine Arts.
In an interview with EL UNIVERSAL, Ashauri López, who recorded the video, said that he was riding his bicycle, when he noticed that a truck had the song “La Chona”, by the Tijuana toucans, and when he stopped at a traffic light he saw that people danced it.
Ashauri thought that the dance “was mainly caused by the lack of a party in CDMX and because people have been locked up for a long time” in the face of the pandemic for Covid-19.
He said that at that time, those who participated in the dance put aside social distancing and “it was a point where we are all equal; culture

This type of expression, said the young man, gives hope to Mexicans in the midst of a pandemic and allows us to have empathy for the people around us and to take care of ourselves to avoid coronavirus infections.
Asahuri said that this event was short-lived: “A respite from all the bad things that are happening.”
He also described that day as a beautiful afternoon; the sky, the atmosphere and his feeling when he saw the people who enjoyed the music.
He indicated that for a few moments it was to change the perspective of days past, in which the city was “dead, without people on the streets.” She also thought that she would never see something like this again in the country’s capital.
“The dance made me remember why I love living in this city, because it reminds me of the union of people as in the 19-S earthquake,” he said.
He pointed out that Mexicans have gone through not so good things with various tragedies, but that does not take away their union and doing activities to leave the health situation and bad news such as insecurity for a moment.
“We do not know what will happen to us later”, that is why it was to break with the daily confinement, he concluded.
