Engelberg (dpa) – Long-time ski jumping top performers Andreas Wellinger and Severin Freund had to accept a bitter setback a good week before the Four Hills Tournament.
Both Olympic champion Wellinger (32nd) and Freund (39th) did not make it into the second round of the World Cup in Engelberg. It is even unclear whether the former world-class athletes will be part of the A-squad for the tour from December 28th to January 6th.

For Wellinger, after his one and a half year break due to a cruciate ligament rupture, things have been going through the whole winter. On Friday the duo even missed the qualification for the best 50 jumpers.
