Damian Lillard, selected MVP of the bubble in Orlando

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard was unanimously voted the MVP of the bubble in Orlando.

Lillard, who led all players in the bubble with an average of 37.6 points per game, led Portland to a 6-2 record and eighth seed. The point guard, who also averaged 9.6 assists, scored 51, 61 and 42 points in the last three games.

He was followed in the vote by guard Devin Booker, who led the Phoenix Suns to a perfect 8-0 record inside the bubble. Indiana Pacers forward TJ Warren, who scored 53 points in his first game against the Philadelphia 76ers – and averaged 31 points – was third.

On the other hand, Suns coach Monty Williams was the almost unanimous choice for Top Coach. Terry Stotts, of Portland, getting the only other vote for first place.

Lillard, Booker and Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic were unanimously named to the first team. Also the guard of the Houston Rockets, James Harden, and Warren.

The second team consisted of current MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, Dallas Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis, Brooklyn Nets point guard Caris LeVert, and Los Angeles rookie. Denver Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr.

The eight seeded games did not count toward the traditional NBA season awards. The winners of those honors will be announced by the NBA during the playoffs, which officially begin Monday.
