For the first game of the two teams after the cut of All Star Weekend, it is Dallas who leaps from the starting blocks to take control of operations. In the wake of an unleashed Luka Doncic, who scores 16 of his team’s 34 points in the first quarter and adds three assists, the Mavs easily take 16 steps ahead while the Magic still seem on vacation (34 -18).
Dallas makes it rain
The awakening of Aaron Gordon and Terrence Ross allows Orlando to return below the bar of ten points behind but this jump is only fleeting. In great delicacy with their long-distance skill, Steve Clifford’s men see Dallas and Kristaps Porzingis lighting the fuse.
The proof in figures. At halftime, Orlando is only 3/22 at 3 points while his opponent is at 8/19. Maxi Kleber puts the lid on
Orlando doesn’t know it yet, but he missed the boat. The Mavs drive the point home with Maxi Kleber. The German makes three long shots and a 2 + 1 to beat his points record in a match and put the Magic at -14 (107-93)!
Nikola Vucevic and Terrence Ross (19 points) tried everything, Dallas did not waver. Orlando no longer worries his opponent who rushes towards a victory all in all logical.
