The Romanian brand Dacia, which has been celebrating great success with its affordable models in recent years, is aiming for a segment higher not only in the realm of crossovers. For 2026, it is planning the premiere of a fastback and station wagon, which according to the website Carscoops they will aim to collect those customers for whom the Škoda Octavia has become too expensive.
The project is currently called C-Neo and there is not much information about it in the world yet. But it is intended to fill a gap in the market that many automakers are creating – or will soon begin to do so – by gradually abandoning the lower middle class of available “low” cars with internal combustion engines in favor of crossovers and electric cars.
The car is supposed to stand on the foundations of other dacias including the Bigster SUV, which basically means a modified and extended CMF-B platform, which was originally created for small city cars. However, the length should be around 4.6 meters, which would make the new product about 5 cm longer than the MPV Jogger. However, seven seats are not very likely, so that the models do not steal customers from each other.
Just as the automaker saves costs by using one platform for all its cars, it is likely that the new model will also get a slightly modified dashboard from the bigster and the new duster. It should be the same with the drive units, so we can expect petrol engines, mild-hybrids, so-called full hybrids and also an LPG drive.
As for the pricing policy, it is likely that Dacia will proceed as it has so far with its other models, and the price list of both versions of the new product will be set lower than that of its direct rivals. In addition to the Octavia, its main competitors are the Peugeot 308, Opel Astra, Volkswagen Golf and Toyota Corolla.
