Czech supertalent at a crossroads. Piano, school, or sports? It’s clear!

He was brought to the queen of sports by his parents, because his father was an eight-meter long-distance and junior vice-champion of Europe. Krsek Jr. gradually developed into a sprinter and, under the guidance of coach Hana Větrovcová, developed into a promising Thursday.

He was ninth (third of Europeans) at last year’s Junior World Championships in Tampere, fourth at the Continental Championships in Boras, Sweden last year, and silver with the relay.

And had it not been for administrative errors in the form of omitting the doping test, last year’s indoor performance of 46.77 would have been set as a junior European record.

It is no wonder that he quickly earned a comparison with Pavel Maslák, the best Thursday in Czech history. Although Krsek does not want to hear it… “I do not like to compare myself to someone. Pavel is another league, the king of Thursday and he will still be, “he has no doubts.

For the last two years, however, the three-time indoor world champion Maslák has been devoting himself only marginally outside Thursday, and so Krsek has become the domestic number one among adults as well. And he kept running to his other activities, such as studying chemistry at the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology or playing the piano, which he has been doing for ten years.

“I want to stay there. It’s a distraction for me, I’ll get to another world, “explains Krsek, who prefers to play the song Nuvole Bianche by the Italian pianist Ludovik Einaudi. In his busy days, the space for athletics will have to be examined elsewhere.

The young man, who, together with aces Barbora Špotáková and Tomáš Staňek, was the face of the Kladno throwing meeting, is currently involved in athletics for about four hours a day. “And for the last two or three years, I’ve been thinking about going even further,” he admits.

He dreams of a tolerant coach and preparation alongside the boys

“I want to give her three or four hours a week more now, whether it’s regeneration, physiotherapy, or sleep,” she says, and her free time is running out. “It’s also about activities like basketball or football with friends. When you run all year round on the track, basketball is a risk, you can sprain your ankle, injure your knee… I will have to sacrifice these things, ”he guesses.

What should the reward be? “Next year will be the highlight of the European Under-23 Championship for me,” he said. And the Olympics? The mixed 4×400 m relay could be a Czech trump card in the future, for example together with Barbora Malíková and Lada Vondrová… “It’s somewhere in the corner of your head,” Krsek does not hide. “But the main thing for me is that I continue to enjoy athletics,” he adds.
