Wiesbaden. The downward trend of all corona indicators in Hesse continues. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the nationwide seven-day incidence on Tuesday was 216.1 after 291.0 a week ago. The number says how many new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were reported in the space of seven days.
With the data, however, it should be noted that the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the contagion situation. Experts assume a large number of unrecorded cases, mainly because not all infected people have taken a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. The number of Covid-19-related deaths was 11,537 on Tuesday, up 56 cases from the previous week. In which cases Covid-19 was the leading cause of death and in which patients died of other diseases but were also infected with the corona virus is usually not clear from the information provided by hospitals.
The incidence of hospitalizations in Hesse continues to decrease, as reported by the Wiesbaden Ministry of Social Affairs. It was 5.16 on a Tuesday after 6.12 the previous week. According to data from the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi), there were 97 adult patients with Covid-19 in the intensive care units of clinics in Hesse on Tuesday.
