Cured cases once again overcome new infections in Germany

Germany has again recorded a number of new cases cured for Covid-19 (about 3600) greater than the number of new infections (2082) in the last 24 hours, according to the Robert Koch Institute.

In total, the country now has a total of 125097 cases diagnosed and 2969 fatalities, 170 more than the previous day, and 68,200 people considered cured.

Bavaria, the largest federal state in Germany, concentrates the largest number of infected with Covid-19, more than 33,500 and 872 deaths.

Lothar Wieler, director of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), stressed at a press conference that, despite the positive trend, “it’s still early” to be able to talk about a containment of the new coronavirus in the country.

The application made available last week by the entity responsible for disease prevention and control, which helps control symptoms, and where it is possible to provide data voluntarily, has already been downloaded 300,000 times, said the RKI.

The Berlin government will meet on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of easing containment measures as of April 19.

Also on Wednesday, in the afternoon, a videoconference meeting should take place with all the leaders of the 16 regions of Germany.

Since March 22, meetings or outings with more than two people are prohibited in Germany. Each region has applied more or less restrictive measures, with Bavaria decreeing practically total confinement.

The new coronavirus, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, has already claimed more than 117,000 deaths and infected almost 1.9 million people in 193 countries and territories.

Of the cases of infection, about 402 thousand are considered cured.

After appearing in China in December, the outbreak spread worldwide, prompting the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a pandemic situation.
