NE. Cult director Rudi Dolezal is used to turbulence. He is a frequent flyer and commutes back and forth several times a year between his home in Purkersdorf and the USA. But what happened to the award-winning filmmaker in a Lufthansa Airbus A380 was a premiere that the 61-year-old would have liked to have done without.
Dolezal feared for his life on the way to Miami when there was a fire alarm on board. It happened in the middle of the Atlantic, the Airbus with Dolezal and companion in the back of the plane had been in the air for three hours. “We have a fire alarm from the cargo area, we cannot yet verify it. We turn around, probably make an emergency landing in Paris, ”said the pilot.
Broken heating triggered the alarm
Hustle and bustle broke out on board, passengers reacted hysterically: “Everything can be over so quickly, the rice has gone insane,” said Dolezal, who had previously spent a few days in Munich with partner Martina Reuter, towards the Lower Austria.
The plane finally returned to Munich, where it took forever for the passengers to get out. “But I just thought, the main thing is that I’m still alive,” says the filmmaker. Incidentally, the reason for the reversal was a defective heating element on board.
