Cuban regime authorizes the deposit of dollars in cash

In a
new maneuver to try to capture the precious US dollars,
the Cuban regime authorized the deposit of said currency in cash, but only
in accounts opened before November 8, 2004.

The decision was published in the official Gazette This week, clarifying that a 10% lien will be applied to these deposits, except in the case of bank transfers from abroad.

«Upon the entry into force of this Resolution, bank accounts in US dollars opened by natural persons before Resolution No. 80 of October 23, 2004 and after its entry into force, may receive cash deposits in US dollars and the 10% tax applies, ”the document says.

These
accounts, until now, only accepted transfers from abroad and from other
accounts in Cuban banks in convertible pesos (CUC), euros, dollars
Canadians, pounds sterling and Swiss francs, but did not allow
cash deposits of US dollars.

The new one
regulations that will enter into force on January 18, indicates that the holders of
such accounts may withdraw the money in cash but in convertible pesos
(CUC), in Cuban Pesos (CUP) or in the currency that the client chooses.
