Cuban playwright Raquel Carrió receives the 2024 National Theater Award

The Cuban playwright Raquel Carrió received this Monday the 2024 National Theater Prize, awarded each year by the National Council of the Performing Arts of Cuba, reported the official press of the Island.

Carrió, philologist and doctor of Arts, was recognized “for her extensive career as a playwright and professor in centers of higher education in the Cuban capital and around the world,” collect Latin Press.

Founder of the International Theater School of Latin America and the Caribbean, Carrió has also been an advisor to the Teatro Buendía company since its creation, where she has written original texts and theatrical versions. Raquel Carrió has a degree in Philology from the University of Havana. She has given conferences, workshops and seminars in institutions in Latin America, Europe, the USA, Asia, Africa and Australia and, among other activities, she carried out research for the International School of Theater Anthropology, directed by Eugenio Barba.

The National Theater Award is presented every January 22, Cuban Theater Day.
