Cuban dies in a hospital in Mexico while waiting for an appointment at CBP One – 2024-02-29 00:17:14

A young Cuban migrant lost his life in a hospital in Mexico while waiting for an appointment at CBP One to request asylum in the United States.

According to the Cuban broadcaster Indira Solís, the deceased responded to the name of Yoan Marlon Díaz Escalona, a young man of only 23 years of age who was originally from Santos Suárez, in the municipality of Diez de Octubre, in Havana.

“Unfortunately, the young Cuban Yoan Marlon Díaz Escalona has just died in Mexico. I just contacted his mother and wife. Very hard case! “He left a very small child,” indicated the Internet user.

According to information shared on social networks, the young man had been in Mexico since September of last year, waiting for his appointment at CBP One to be approved to continue his journey to the northern border with the United States.

The young man, who was the father of a child on the Island, wanted to enter the United States legally with the aim of achieving a better future, but his situation took an unexpected turn when he began to present health problems.

This month, the young man’s health worsened and his family was notified of his hospitalization, something that worried them. Yoan would have felt discomfort before losing consciousness and mobility.

Now, the young man’s family is requesting help to be able to repatriate his mortal remains back to the Island. Likewise, they have requested support to recover some of the young man’s belongings, such as two cell phones that are in the possession of third parties.

“They request the repatriation of the young man’s body and also that all his belongings be sent to Cuba in luggage, including the two cell phones that Yoan had and that are now in the possession of other people,” the publication concludes.

The news generated shock among Cubans inside and outside the Island, who greatly regretted the death of someone so young, especially so close to arriving in the United States with the aim of giving a better future to his son and his wife.

“For God’s sake, how long do we Cubans have to suffer for seeking a better life?” “How sad, God. A boy so young and eager to help his family forward” and “My God, so young and full of life.” My condolences to the family and friends,” were just some of the more than 300 comments gathered on the publication.
