After months of stopping, something seems to be moving also with regards to the cruise world. These days we are talking about the possibility of start again with cruise travel, of course with the utmost respect for security measures. And one of the most interesting hypotheses seems to be the idea of take advantage of private destinations.

Many cruise lines have created gods over the years real havens for use and consumption of their passengers. They are private islands where ships make their way, to give travelers a few relaxing days on enchanting beaches and a refreshing dip in crystal clear waters. Starting from these places could be the best – and easiest – way to ensure passenger safety: no contact with local populations and greater ease in setting up protocols for social distancing and other health protection measures.

So what are the main destinations that could mark the cruise travel restarts? One of the most famous is undoubtedly Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, the private island of the MSC: inaugurated only a year ago in the heart of the Bahamas islands, it is a jewel that stands out among the many destinations of the naval company. It has 3 km of enchanting beaches, where you can find corners of unspoiled nature within walking distance of every comfort. And it’s also a green masterpiece, since MSC has made every effort to respect the environment and the beautiful marine area on which Ocean Cay stands.

Always at Bahamas, other private destinations are Great Stirrup Cay (belonging to the Norwegian Cruise Line) and Perfect Day at CocoCay (of Royal Caribbean). The first is a real 5-star dream, between exclusive resorts with a private beach and a wide range of services. CocoCay instead it is an amusement park that offers great emotions: incredible pools and dozens of breathtaking slides, but also hot air balloon rides and floating cabins, for a fun-filled holiday.

The Princess Cruise offers its passengers the enchanting private paradise of Princess Cays, located on the island of Eleuthera. It is the perfect place to engage in offshore activities, including snorkeling and fishing: its transparent waters and the seabed rich in marine life are a sight not to be missed. The same can be said of Half Moon Cay, the private island of the Holland America Line, still in the Bahamas. Numerous wild nature hikes also await you here – between dives, of course. For the little ones, the Disney Cruise Line has the splendid in the catalog Castaway Cay, where dozens of cartoon characters guarantee endless fun (but, of course, there are also attractions for adults).

If you are looking for a different landscape than the Bahamas, there is still a lot of choice. There are Grand Turk and Amber Cove, respectively Turks and Caicos islands and along the northern coast of the Dominican Republic – both destinations belong to Carnival. In Haiti it stands out instead Labadee, private destination of Royal Caribbean, while Norwegian Cruise Line also owns Harvest Caye, in Belize.
