The anniversary was celebrated this weekend in Copenhagen, and together with the Danish royal family the Norwegian and Swedish royal couple paid tribute to the jubilee.

Various events are scheduled, including a gala show and lunch at Kongeskipet Dannebrog. On Sunday evening, the stage was set up for a celebratory dinner at Christiansborg Castle and, as planned, numerous speeches were delivered for the Queen during the dinner.

One of those who spoke to the celebrant was his eldest son, and thus the next heir to the throne, Crown Prince Frederik (54). The man who is not known to be a particularly good speaker, however, convinced “everyone” after paying homage to his mother on Sunday.

OFFICIALLY: King Charles III was formally proclaimed on Saturday 10 September.

Praise the mother

– It was one of the crown prince’s best speeches, if not the best ever, he says BT royal correspondent Jacob Heinel Jensen at the Danish newspaper.

In his speech he addressed, among other things, the differences between the two:

– You paint, I train. Digging for artifacts from the past, I buried myself to avoid being discovered during my time in the Armed Forces. Masterful words, sometimes I miss them, said Crown Prince Frederik.

He also added that his mother has prepared him well when he will one day take over as regent and that when the time comes he will steer the ship forward with what they have shared as ballast.

The speech in its entirety can be read on the website of the Danish royal house website.

– You’re the boss

The royal correspondent does not hold back his enthusiasm after the well-chosen words of the crown prince.

– It was done exceptionally beautifully. You might also see how the queen lit up more and more as she progressed in the speech. He could be himself in the speech and still pay homage to her mother. He said “you are the boss”, which is a “down to earth” way very similar to Crown Prince Frederik of referring to his mother. And she just sat down and blushed, she smiled and she was very proud of her son of hers because she gave her speech that way.

Jensen further points out that the whole thing was a “very, very moving moment in Danish royal history”.
