Crises make you creative: Gorilla Kitchen relies 100% on delivery service and take-away


The Gorilla Kitchen in the 4th district will not open the guest area for the time being. Instead, 100 percent take away and delivery are used – a precautionary measure for employees and guests with a positive effect: the Gorilla Kitchen KIOSK.

The KIOSK, a kind of local supplier with a special assortment for urban relaxation experiences in the Grätzl around the Karlskirche in Vienna, is supposed to offer security for the guests as well as for the staff.

Apparently, the corona virus spreads much more slowly outdoors than in closed rooms. At least that’s what the much-quoted experts say. Because it is safer for employees and guests and the demand in Grätzl is big enough, the Gorilla Kitchen in the next weeks and months on 100 percent take-away, delivery and a new KIOSK concept. Chris Heger, founder and managing director, about the new measures: “With our way out, we hope to be able to contribute to a sustainable relaxation of the situation.”

In addition to the take-away and delivery range of burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas & Co., there is now a new KIOSK range in the Gorilla Kitchen. “With our new kiosk we see ourselves as a local supplier for the Grätzl around the Karlskirche in Vienna. There will be a lot going on there, like every spring and summer, ”says Lisa Grabner, founder and managing director. The special features of the new offer are, on the one hand, the extensive beer, wine and juice selection, which is not available in the food retail sector. On the other hand, there will be a selection of cooling, camping & chill equipment that can be borrowed free of charge and is intended to make life easier for all urban relaxers.

The Gorilla Kitchen has always offered take-away since the Corona crisis forced 100 percent. This new situation has given the gorilla gang new ideas. The options for pre-ordering and picking up food and drinks have been expanded. Since the middle of April there has been a dispensing station, which is located outside the restaurant and is covered. The Gorilla Kitchen also has pre-orders for its customers via the app gatsby recommended. In addition to contactless payment, this ordering option offers another advantage: there are no waiting times. “The pick-up at the delivery station and the digital pre-orders were well received by our guests. We will continue to offer these services, ”says Chris Heger of Gorilla Kitchen’s 100 percent take away and delivery offering. When asked why he did not open the Gorilla Kitchen for indoor consumption, he replied as follows: “We still know too little about the virus and its spread. Science says: Outdoor is safer than indoor. That is why we continue to take away, deliver and kiosk until further notice. Table reservations, table assignments and table service would simply not suit us at all. Safe is safe and guests seem to like it. ”
