Crimea, Threats | Temporary armament of police across the country

Until the situation at Bislett in Oslo is more clarified, the Police Directorate has ordered temporary armament of the police throughout the country.

– The role of the Police Directorate is to assess and implement measures that ensure good preparedness and handling throughout the country. All of the country’s police districts have been notified of the situation and are temporarily armed to increase police preparedness and response capability, says Police Director Benedicte Bjørnland in a press release.

She states that the Norwegian Police Directorate is following the situation closely and is continuously assessing how the incident affects the police’s preparedness and efforts.

The police currently have no concrete indications that there is a change in the threat level in the country.

The police state that just before 9 o’clock they were notified of a threatening person with a knife in the area by Therese gate on Bislett in Oslo. A police patrol was on the scene within a short time.

– At this point, there is a confrontation with the person and a threatening situation where shots are fired, operations manager Tore Solberg informs NTB.

– The person has been hit by the shots and is receiving health treatment. The person is taken to hospital. We will make a fuller statement later, says the operations manager.

On Twitter, they also write that a service person is injured. Here, too, the extent of the damage is unknown.
