Travelers should look out for these insurances:
- Travel withdrawal cost insurance

- Travel luggage insurance
- Accident insurance
- Comprehensive rental car insurance
- Car cover letter
–

In times of Corona, travel cancellation insurance is of course particularly exciting. Since the current situation is developing so quickly, overnight you can find yourself in the situation of having to cancel or postpone a long-planned trip.
What does the credit card travel cancellation insurance cover?
A travel cancellation insurance is a top form of coverage, but of course it does not cover all costs. Before you cancel a trip, it is therefore important to carefully study the conditions and, if necessary, to contact the insurance company.
Sometimes a cancellation is not even necessary, and you can negotiate a postponement or a voucher with the tour operator.
A travel cancellation insurance normally covers the cancellation costs in the following cases:
- Death or death of a close relative
- Severe short-term illness such as corona infection (can be proven by a doctor’s certificate)
- Officially ordered entry bans
- Accidents with serious health consequences
- Pregnancy or pregnancy complications
- Unexpected job loss due to operational reasons
- Vaccination intolerance with health effects
- Serious property damage to property (e.g. apartment fire)
- Court subpoena
–
The following are not covered:
- Fear of illness / infection (for example with the coronavirus)
- State authority / force majeure (e.g. ordered quarantine)
- Travel warnings from the Federal Foreign Office
- Restrictions due to security measures at the resort
- Cancellation by the travel provider due to the coronavirus
–
In the event of a travel warning, insurers have different views. The ADAC then, for example, does not pay – with American Express the costs are covered as long as the trip was booked before the travel warning. A comparison – also in view of pandemic clauses – is definitely worthwhile.
