Covid’s traffic light darkens. Croatia will be newly orange

The traffic light recognizes five categories of infection risk. From the European countries, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and the Vatican belong to the green category, where the risk of covidem-19 infection is low.

So far, the United States, Montenegro, Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon and Northern Macedonia have also been among the green countries. Due to the unfavorable development and the deteriorating epidemic situation recently, they will move to the category of countries with a very high risk of infection, ie dark red, from Monday, August 23.

Croatia has fallen from green to orange

The second category (orange), ie a country with a medium risk, will include, for example, Croatia, which is very popular with tourists in the Czech Republic, which has deteriorated by a degree. Then Luxembourg, Italy, Latvia, Austria, Finland, Malta, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Madeira, Portugal.

When arriving from the green and orange countries, it is necessary to fill in the arrival form. People who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus or who have not had the disease in the last 180 days must have an antigen or PCR test within 5 days.

Countries with a high risk of infection (red) include Andorra, Bulgaria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Estonia, France, Greece, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, incl. Canary Islands and Portugal incl. Azores.

The penultimate category is dark red countries, where the risk is very high. Among the EU member states, it includes Cyprus and the Balearic Islands. Furthermore, non-European countries or the new Israel or the USA will be added.

When returning from red and dark red countries, it is necessary to fill in the arrival form and take a test before returning to the Czech Republic. Another test is needed in the Czech Republic no earlier than the 5th and no later than the 14th day after return. Self-insulation is required until the result. The conditions, with the exception of the arrival form, do not apply to vaccinated persons or people who have undergone covid-19 in the last 180 days.

It is not recommended to travel to countries with an extreme risk of infection that are colored black. Russia, for example, belongs there.

The Czechia also takes into account the positivity of the tests

An internationally recognized parameter for comparing countries and their placement in traffic lights is the number of newly infected in a seven- or fortnightly interval per 100 thousand inhabitants. However, the Czechia has a slightly different methodology. It may happen that although some countries have lower numbers of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants than others, they are in a darker category.

An example is Sweden. This has had 48 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week and is in the red category, ie a high risk. In contrast, Montenegro has 423 cases / 100,000 inhabitants per week and is in the mildest green category. So far, Croatia has been in the green category with a ratio of 57/100.

The Newsroom therefore turned to the Ministry of Health for an explanation of the traffic light coloring methodology. “In addition to the 14-day cumulative COVID-19 case reporting rate, we also use a test positivity rate to rank countries in the so-called traffic light, and Croatia and Sweden differ in these two parameters,” said Kryštof Berka, a spokesman for the ministry. higher in Sweden may be due to the red color of this Nordic country.
