Ischitella, February 13, 2021. A wellness sector severely tested by the health emergency, heavily hit by the forced stops dictated by the DPCM. It is since October 26, with the second wave of the pandemic, that the gyms are stopped, as are amateur sports activities also suspended.
A damage that is difficult to sustain for such a long time, especially for those who also have to bear the rental costs for the structures. I am to have my say on this uncertain situation the managers of the two gyms in Ischitella, Sante Martella from PaleXtra Gymnasium and Tobia Di Tonno from Palestra Voluntas.
“We are in clear difficulty – he reported Sante Martella – We hope to reopen in March, as the Government has made known, even if towards the summer period the gymnastic activities, for the locals, tend to decrease ”. Sante was keen to point out that it has not been well proven that gyms are places at risk of contagion, and that during the opening period they followed all the safety protocols issued. For a facility like his, about 300 square meters, the entrance was staggered for ten people in turn.
The impact of the pandemic on the population is also being felt in physical activity, with an increase in sedentary lifestyle e increased consumption of food.
Now the problem is not so much closure, but entice customers to return to the gym. “One thing the government could do to facilitate new enrollments is to create some sort of voucher, like free subscriptions for old customers that in this period they have no incentive to attend ”Sante suggested.
A similar situation, pending positive feedback regarding the reopening, is that of Gym Voluntas By Tobia Di Tonno. “In the first pandemic I did not agree very much because the virus was not yet clear – said Tobia – I am now worried about the virus mutation, not only with regards to gatherings, but also about vaccines“. In this respect, forecasts are more pessimistic in Tobia, and he still sees the day when the gyms will reopen very far.
Also from the fateful date of October 26th, even the amateur activities have been stopped by the Government. Tobia explained the reason why the national championship, starting from Serie D, was not suspended: “The minor leagues are blocked because there is no money to buy and make swabs. Amateur clubs are not as wealthy as professional clubs “.
