Covid: Tahiti hospital calls for help

The tension is still as strong on the front of the fight against covid with 412 hospitalizations including 55 in critical care service. 150 patients flock in every day, including 100 in the covid sector. The director of the hospital asks Emmanuel Macron to urgently send substantial reinforcements.



The hospital keeps pushing the walls to receive the patients hardest hit by the epidemic.

The beds in the nave of the establishment are now occupied. 44 patients are in critical care at Taaone and 11 others in peripheral establishments.

Every day about fifteen patients die and the morgue is always full. Polynesia mourns 385 missing since the onset of the epidemic. Despite reinforcements from France and Caledonia and the support of volunteers, the healthcare staff are exhausted.

The reinforcements engaged are at homeopathic dose for the moment, we need much more staff for intensive care, emergencies and hospitalization services which manage the covid in intensive care

The director of the hospital wrote to the President of the Republic and calls for national solidarity so that significant reinforcements in human resources are urgently dispatched to Tahiti.
