Covid, stricter regulations for swimming pools and gyms

The Minister for Youth Policies and Sport, Vincenzo Spadafora, announced that the Department for Sport has issued the new Implementation Protocol of the ‘Guidelines for basic sports and physical activity in general’, which updates those of last May 19, and which introduces stricter regulations than previously foreseen both for the managers of gyms, swimming pools and facilities and for sportsmen in general.

In the text, of which the minister informed his colleagues in the Council of Ministers, in addition to the rules of conduct, particular attention is paid to the implementation of data collection, to the execution of checks, even on a sample basis, and to the sanctions provided for by the rules already in force.

The text was drawn up after the approval of the Dpcm on October 18, 2020, in collaboration with the Italian National Olympic Committee, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Italian Sports Medical Federation, the most representative trade associations and with the contribution of the working group. specifically set up by Minister Spadafora to follow the medical-social aspects of sport-related measures in relation to the pandemic, and composed of qualified medical experts from the ‘Lazzaro Spallanzani’ Institute, the ‘Bambino Gesù’ Pediatric Hospital and the Polyclinic ‘Agostino Gemelli’ (Francesco Vaia, Federico Vigevano and Giorgio Meneschincheri).

“The world of sport has done and will continue to do its utmost to guarantee full safety to enthusiasts and workers, as has happened so far and even more. We are well aware that with the passing of the days the curves increase and that unfortunately we could find ourselves in the face of difficult decisions. What I ask is simply that activities that present similar risks be treated in the same way ”, says Spadafora.
