Telefónica installs the antenna that will bring 4G mobile telephony to Peñalba de Santiago | Radio Bierzo

The Telefónica company is executing “at a great pace” the installation work for the mobile telephone antenna that will provide mobile telephone service with 4G technology to the town of Peñalba and other towns of La Tebaida, antenna that is located on the top of Corón.

In this line of action, the foundation has already been completed and the antenna, 30 meters high, is being assembled on site, using large cranes.

The intention of the company is to put this much-needed installation into operation as soon as possible to guarantee the telecommunications of the inhabitants, services and businesses of Peñalba and the Oza Valley.

The lack of signal mobile phone is a great handicap for the present and the future of the towns of La Tebaida and seriously compromises even the safety of its inhabitants in emergency situations or catastrophe such as the one registered in the past as a result of the burning of several houses in the town of Peñalba.

The culmination of this vital project for Peñalba and other towns of the Oza Valley is the result of the intense efforts carried out by the mayor of Ponferrada, Olegario Ramón, with senior managers from Telefónica, with the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Manueco, and with the Minister of Development and Environment, Juan Carlos Suarez Quinones, as well as those developed by the Department of Rural Affairs of the Ponferrada City Council through its manager, Ivan Alonso, to alleviate the situation of isolation that the inhabitants of these towns are suffering and that have been entrenched without a solution for decades.

In any case, once the antenna is installed, the power line problem remains to be solved designed to provide the energy supply to the installation, something for which it is fundamentally important that the Junta de Castilla y León expedite the provision of the facility as much as possible. grant of 100,000 euros that was specifically committed to this end by the Chairman of the Board, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, during his recent visit to La Tebaida. In this sense, the Ponferrada City Council hopes that the meeting to be held with the heads of the General Directorate of Telecommunications of Castilla y León will serve to specify the way to make the commitment of the Autonomous Administration effective.
