Covid -19 to expand in Jurmala and two other counties; young people are also ill

Last day, one case of Covid -19 was detected in Jurmala, as well as in Gulbene and Ādaži counties, according to the data compiled by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

Patients are in the age groups of ten to 19 years, 40 to 49 years and 50 to 59 years.

By now, all those infected in Ādaži municipality have recovered.

Jurmala is among the municipalities where the number of infected does not exceed five.

In turn, a total of 11 cases of the disease have been diagnosed in Gulbene municipality so far. In this municipality, the incidence of Covid-19 was first detected on July 22. Later, Normunds Audzišs (ZZS), the chairman of Gulbene County Council, issued an order stating that from July 29 to August 12, 56 municipal institutions were closed for face-to-face visits in the municipality due to Covid-19, except for kindergarten on duty groups.

It has already been reported that another Covid-19 patient who died of the new coronavirus from a relative who visited abroad died in Latvia last day, according to the information provided by the SPKC.

The deceased was in the age group of 90 to 95 years.

As a result, a total of 32 people with Covid-19 died in Latvia.

In the last 24 hours, 1473 Covid-19 tests have been performed in the country and three new cases have been registered. In one case, Covid-19 was discovered after entering a country with a morbidity rate above 25, one patient returned from a country with a morbidity rate below 16, and one patient had contacted a person from a country where the incidence rate was below 16.

Thus, so far a total of 198,508 Covid-19 examinations have been performed in Latvia and 1,231 persons have fallen ill. A total of 1,052 Covid-19 patients recovered.
