COVID-19: ‘terrifying’ experience for a 9-year-old girl and her family | Coronavirus: Ontario

David Byrne claimed that the experience was terrifying in an interview with CBC.: “dad, am I going to die? ” “,” text “:” At some point she said to me: “dad, am I going to die? ” “}} “>At one point she said to me, “Daddy, am I going to die?”, he recalls.

Although he continued to tell his daughter Rosalie that she was going to be okay, he claims that there was at least a day or two when I really couldn’t answer this question, honestly.

Rosalie was hospitalized twice for a total of seven days, according to Mr. Byrne.

The vast majority of children under 12 are not eligible for the vaccine in Ontario, making them more vulnerable to more transmissible variants than those who have been fully immunized.

According to Mr Byrne, 23 days ago his daughter started showing symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath. Basically every day when I woke up there was a new symptom, Byrne said.

Rosalie was hospitalized with gastrointestinal problems a week after the onset of symptoms.

Mr. Byrne remembers Rosalie vomiting almost every time she took a sip of water.

Although the child is recovering from her illness and most of her symptoms are gone, she still has very little energy and cannot walk more than short distances.

The risk is always present

Mr Byrne says he and his wife are both fully vaccinated. He believes Rosalie caught the virus during a masked visit to the park. He hopes his family’s story can inspire more people to get vaccinated and take steps to protect themselves against the Delta variant.

Perhaps now is the time to recognize that the virus is changing and that it is impacting people, especially the most vulnerable like children, especially young children, in a way much more serious, says Byrne.

With schools reopening in a few weeks, Byrne wants the vaccine to be mandatory for teachers.

The Education Department said on Tuesday that it intends to implement a vaccine status disclosure policy for employees of publicly funded school boards and staff of private schools and licensed day care centers.

As for Rosalie, her father points out that she may not be able to return to school in September, as doctors told her she would be more likely to contract other illnesses, like colds and flu, while she is continuing her recovery from COVID-19.

This is something I obviously hadn’t thought of, it means our life is going to be really different in the fall than we had planned., indique M. Byrne.
