Covid-19: Russia agrees to sell 50 million doses of Sputnik V to Bahia – News

Currently in Brazil, one of the three countries most affected by the pandemic worldwide, tests are being carried out with vaccines developed by the multinational Johnson & Johnson, United Kingdom (AstraZeneca and Oxford University), which is suspended, China (Sinovac Biotech) and the BioNTech consortium (Germany) and Wyeth / Pfizer (United States).

The Brazilian diagnostic medicine company Dasa also announced that a synthetic vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company Covaxx, with good initial results, will be tested on about 3,000 volunteers in Brazil.

It is UB-612, a possible vaccine against the new coronavirus developed by Covaxx, a division of the United States United Biomedical, which had successful results in phase one of the tests with volunteers in Taiwan, informed spokespeople of Dasa and Covaxx at a virtual press conference.

In August, Bahia had also announced a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese National Biotechnology Group (CNBG), a subsidiary of the Chinese National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and responsible for the production of two other vaccines in the Asian country that have already undergone their first study phases.

The protocol with the Chinese state-owned company foresees the application of the two vaccines in 6,000 patients from the entire Northeast region of Brazil.

Brazil is the Portuguese-speaking country most affected by the pandemic and one of the hardest hit in the world, when counting the second number of deaths (more than 4.2 million cases and 129,522 deaths), after the United States.
