Covid-19. Relaxation of barrier gestures at the Dijon exhibition fair

President Macron’s speech is expected on Tuesday, November 9, while the relaxation of barrier gestures is observed in France. At the Dijon fair, hydroalcoholic gel is neglected, as is distancing and the mask not always worn. What do the people of Dijon think about it?

A few hours before President Emmanuel Macron’s speech on the covid-19, we asked the people of Dijon about the relaxation of barrier gestures. In turn questioned in the aisles of the Dijon fair, they do not respect all the recommendations in force and some even seem to have abandoned the mask which is “recommended” inside the fair.

Compulsory health pass

A valid health pass is the key to entering the Dijon exhibition center. Once inside the fair, it’s a whole different story. Many visitors pay little attention to the mandatory hydroalcoholic gel dispenser and the distance of one meter.

The mask is just recommended inside the building. Visitors passing through the fair’s aisles wear it, on their nose, underneath or not at all. The last option is chosen by a good half of those who walk this Monday morning. An attitude assumed by some. “I have my vaccine, in principle I am not cured, but not far ”, specifies a visitor. “If there are a lot of people, we’ll put it ”, adds another.

“The measures are already sufficient”

Side exhibitors, there, clearly few masks per square meter. “I think the measures are already sufficient”, explains one of them.

The health measures, established by the organizers with the services of the prefecture, are not limited to wearing a mask. “Of the surface available at the fair, 66% of the surface is dedicated to the movement of visitors, it was 56% in 2019. For us organizers, it is also the strengthening of our security teams and safety and cleaning ”, explains Nadine Bazin, director of Dijon congrexpo. A new air renewal system completes the device.

“I protect myself even vaccinated”

Measures that do not exempt from barrier gestures for certain visitors. “I protect myself against covid even if I am vaccinated”, Explains a visitor. “We’re so used to being masked inside now that we didn’t ask ourselves that question when we got back, we put it on ”, adds a lady. “There is the health pass but that doesn’t mean anything, we can still pass it on (the covid, editor’s note) so it’s safer to have the mask”, specifies another visitor.

Especially when we know that the Dijon fair attracts up to 15,000 people on certain days, this was the case on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Figures in the region

Is a fifth wave looming? There is a rebound in the epidemic. The Ars has 59 cases per 5,000 inhabitants as of October 31, 2021 in Burgundy. A week earlier there were 33 cases per 5,000 inhabitants. This represents a 30% increase in the incidence rate within 7 days. We are far from the situation last spring, on March 29 there were 310 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the region.

The resumption of the epidemic can be explained by the current situation, the winter period. We know that the cold favors the development of any virus in general, including the coronavirus.

In the hospital

Caregivers are on the front line and remain on their guard. “We are vigilant and we prepare if there is an increase in cases. For the moment we are in a stable situation “, explains Sébastien Mireck, anesthetist-resuscitator. He spoke about vaccination.

The few patients we have in intensive care are 3/4 of the unvaccinated patients, this shows the importance of the complete vaccination path for everyone to be able to avoid the serious forms.

Announcements expected by the people of Dijon

Emmanuel Macron will speak on Tuesday, November 9 at 8 p.m. What fear do the people of Dijon met in the city center fear? “JI am a little worried that it will make the third dose compulsory, particularly for certain professions and perhaps for certain age groups “, specifies a passerby. “Perhaps he will strengthen the vaccination or put the curfew back to 11 pm which I do not hope but it is possible “, states another. “I hope he won’t put us back at home, that he lets us work, travel”, adds a third passer-by.

Will the president announce new health measures? Will the third dose be made compulsory for those over 65? So many questions pending until this evening.
